The true pinnacle of the series

Chronology

Three strangers who live in the same New York apartment building and are obsessed with true crime suddenly find themselves involved in a murder. Steve Martin actually plays the concerto in several scenes. In fact, he is a very experienced and talented musician. In the first episode, the viewer learned that CHS lived above Oliver, who lived above Mabel with that elevator scene. BUT the opener has CHS in the apartment on the 7th floor, Oliver on the 8th, Mabel on the 9th – in reverse order and well below the CHS. Featured in the AniMat animation Mad Actor: The Rat of All My Dreams (2020).

New York in five minutes

Season 1 (9/10) When this show came out, my girlfriend wasn’t particularly interested. I’m a big fan of comedy mysteries and loved Steve Martin in my youth, but his enthusiasm is anything but mild. But after five minutes I had to stop and make him watch it because we’re New Yorkers and this show is perfect. Strange relationships with passers-by, artistic types, justified paranoia – all this was immediately funny. The series is about a trio of murder podcast fanatics who join a real-life murder in their luxury apartment building. Soon they are researching and broadcasting podcasts.

The actors are amazing

But they also keep secrets from each other in a wonderful structure of secrets. Everyone has secrets, the show says, and digging into them is a fascinating exercise. Martin is irrepressibly funny, Short, who I’m usually lukewarm to, is very funny as the charming theater director, and Selena Gomez more than holds her own as the hilarious temporary tenant. This show was a very popular ticket. As far as I know, my friends (and other New Yorkers) love it, so I was shocked to see how many user reviews simply hate the show or find it mediocre, and demand that all positive reviews be paid for. This answer is insurmountable.

The show is amazing

When a new episode came out, we watched it right away. It’s just so, so, so good. Ignore the other seasons: Season 2 (8/10): Slightly weaker than the first season, but still great. Season 3 (6/10): What the Hell Happened? In season 3, Steve Martin played his character as a complete moron, and after two great seasons, Selena Gomez has become duller – darker and less witty. And when the mystery was solved, oh my god, it was the most insane motive you can think of.

Probably the second best season after the first

Sure, there were still good moments, good guest stars, surprisingly nice songs. But OMG. Season 4 (9 stars) To my relief, Season 4 was a return to form, with Martin no longer an idiot and Gomez’s charming Snark fully restored. There are some fun celebrity guest stars – Eva Longoria being really terrible is especially fun. man – the mystery is solid and keeps you guessing, the plot twists are delightful, and it’s all incredibly funny.
